BEHIND THE NAME
The name of the company of "Twazzle and Funomics" was made from three (3) words:
Twazzle, Fun and Nomic.
twaz·zle (twäz'lé) pron.
only used as a single word interrogative in asking for immediate clarification
[Twazzle?]; never used with other words within a sentence.
SYN: Huh? or What?
The owner of Twazzle and Funomics began using the
word-phrase while in
High School. One must realize that he attended the only High School in the
world that teaches circus. "Twazzle?" was used as the single word interrogative
replacement for "What?" or "Huh?" So, it could be understood that while
people continue to try to find out why things are as they are, this word of
inquisitiveness, could easily be at the tip of the tongue.
Fun·om·ic (fun'äm'ik) n. compound
word. devised from the words "fun" + "nomic"
"Nomic" is the name of a think game the owner
of Twazzle and Funomics saw published in Big Blue Disk. Big Blue Disk was
one of the first magazines to be published on magnetic medium (two
5¼"disks) for the PC. One of their issues included the game of
"Nomic". It was enjoyed by logisticians, professors and philosophers
who like mind games (of course they do!). The game was made up of approximately
30 plus rules. One received points for making an agreed upon rule change.
And the objective was to be the first to an agreed upon point total.
Another method of play is to try to tie the game up within the rules
as to not be able to continue the game. The owner of Twazzle and Funomics
thinks it is an interesting concept to enter into game play where the objective
wasn't to win, but to ensure that nobody else did either.
The owner of Twazzle
and Funomics DID NOT conceive this game!
Peter
Suber did.Hence the name ... the inquisitiveness of "Twazzle",
having "Fun", and the logic of (or lack of) in "Nomic".
